I’ve decided to make the jump over to wordpress from my blog hosted on my mac site. I’ve had problems with it in the past and the latest mobileme jump is kind of the last straw. It’s been great for a lot of things, but, for blogging, it’s just not the greatest platform.

So, here’s the new address...

www.danielgilland.wordpress.com

Here’s the deal if you’re subscribed with RSS

If you’re currently subscribed in your RSS reader by email or to:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/danielgilland

You’re golden. You don’t have to do anything. Congrats. However, if you’re subscribed to:

feed://www.danielgilland.com/danielgilland.com/Blog/rss.xml

You’re going to have to change. My suggestion is just to click on the ‘feedburner’ link above and subscribe.

I’ll be keeping this up for a while and will eventually move it over and archive it somewhere. When I do that I’ll post a link. As for now, feedburner has been pointed to a different site than this one, so, update your RSS now!!!

Thanks all. See you on the other side...

Tomorrow morning about 530am Jess and I will be heading to the hospital for her surgery.

In case you don’t know why she’s having surgery...

We found out a few months ago that Jess has a nodule in her thyroid. After tons of different tests, a biopsy, ultrasound, and consultations we’ve decided that we need to go ahead and have surgery. The doctors are pretty confident it’s not cancer, but, want to remove it to make certain. The thyroid is pretty hard to test because of it’s location in the throat and because it has a tendency to bleed, so, you can’t test it normally like other parts of the body.

She’ll be having the right lobe of her thyroid taken out completely. It will be sent to pathology where it will be examined immediately. If it is cancerous by sight/under a microscope they’ll go ahead and remove the left as well, but, they don’t anticipate having to do that. Otherwise, they’ll send it off to California for testing and we’ll get the results next week. We’ll be staying overnight as a precaution and coming home early Tuesday morning.

We’d love your prayers tomorrow as any kind of surgery can be a little intimidating.

Please pray that the doctor would have steady hands and wisdom as he operates tomorrow.

Pray for the pathologists to have wisdom as they look at the nodule.

Pray for Jess and her nerves as she goes in tomorrow. Pray that her recovery time is quick with no ill side effects. Pray that the nodule is just that and nothing else, no cancer or any other issues and that there’s no bleeding involved. That can require a longer stay and further surgeries if it starts to bleed.

Thanks so much!!!

Ever since mac switched over to MobileMe I’ve been having problems with my site. My comments on new blogs aren’t working or anything like that. So, if you want to comment or send Jess and encouraging word or something, send it on over by email to daniel.gilland@gmail.com.

I’ll also have wifi tomorrow and will probably be on twitter. Look me up if you haven’t already... search for dgilland...

It’s a revolutionary device that’s just downright awesome. It’s hard to compare it to another phone because it’s nothing like anything else that’s out there.

After much deliberation Jess and I have decided not to go iPhone. We’re probably going to go Verizon here in a few weeks. They’ve got the best prices and great service everywhere we travel. And I’ll be holding out for Android. Google’s free mobile OS that will be coming out later this year. It’ll also be the very first phone on the new 700mhz spectrum when that’s opened up in late 2009 (who ever thought google didn’t know what they were doing when the bidding was going on???). Check below for a demo of what Android will probably look like and some of it’s functionality. Enjoy...
